Who We Are
A family foundation built on love — for dogs, for community, and for each other.
Our Story
R3 Family Foundation was founded in December 2025 by Samarth Das and Swati Kirti — in loving memory of their dog Rafa, who passed away in September 2025. His loss left a profound mark on the family, and the foundation was born from a desire to turn that grief into something meaningful.
The name "R3" honors three beloved family members — Raahi, Raghav, and Rafa — each of whom represent the heart and spirit of our mission. Rafa's memory lives at the center of everything we do, reminding us what it means to love unconditionally and to show up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
What started as a deeply personal tribute has grown into a formally incorporated Washington State nonprofit, dedicated to making a lasting difference for animals and families across our community.
Our Purpose
"To promote compassionate care, wellness, education, and opportunities for children, families, and animals through grants, programs, and community engagement."
— Official purpose statement, Articles of Incorporation, December 2025
Every animal deserves care, dignity, and a chance at a loving home.
We believe in the power of families and neighbors working together.
Love without action is just a feeling. We show up and do the work.
Named for family, run by family, in service of all families.
The Three R's
The three beloved family members who give our foundation its name and its soul.
Bubbly, athletic, and effortlessly charming — Raahi lights up every room she walks into. With a bright personality that draws people in and a heart big enough to make friends with anyone, she is the kind of person who makes the world feel warmer. And beneath all that energy, there is a beautiful sensitivity that runs deep. Raahi grew up alongside Rafa, and their bond was something truly special — she loved him with her whole heart.
The youngest, the most pampered, and convinced he is exactly Raahi's age. Raghav moves through the world with joyful chaos — loves his cars, loves his mess, and loves nothing more than being right by his mom's side. He adored Rafa, and he adores his big sister with equal intensity. With a natural flair for sports and the energy of someone who will never sit still for long, everyone who meets Raghav knows: this one is going places.
Rafa was not just a dog — he was a core member of this family, and he knew it. He adored children, and there was no one closer to his heart than Swati. He lived for his long walks, for playing with other dogs, and for the simple joy of being with his people. When Raahi and Raghav came into his life, something shifted — Rafa became a big brother, protective and gentle, always keeping a quiet eye on the little ones who had become his whole world. Every dog sitter, every neighbor, everyone who ever spent time with him left a little more in love with him. He was loved by all, and he gave it all back, tenfold. Rafa passed away in September 2025, and his memory is the reason this foundation exists.
