What We Do

Making a Difference,
One Dog at a Time

From rescue and fostering to grants and community — here's how R3 Family Foundation turns love into action.

Our Programs

Three Ways We Help

R3 Family Foundation is a young but growing organization. These are the pillars of our work — built on Rafa's memory and a belief that every dog deserves a loving home.

🐕

Dog Rescue & Rehoming

We partner with shelters and rescue organizations across King County to identify dogs in need, support their care, and help connect them with loving forever families.

💚

Grants Program

The Raahi, Raghav & Rafa Fund awards grants to qualifying rescue organizations and shelters — helping them do more with resources that are often stretched thin.

🤝

Community & Education

We believe informed, compassionate communities create better outcomes for animals. We support fostering education, responsible pet ownership, and family-led volunteering.

Rescue & Rehoming

Every Dog Deserves a Second Chance

Rafa taught us what a dog's love truly looks like — and losing him reminded us how many dogs in shelters and rescue situations are waiting for that same chance. R3 Foundation exists to give more dogs that chance.

We work directly with shelters, rescue networks, and foster families across the greater Seattle area to identify dogs who need support — whether that's veterinary care, temporary fostering, or help finding their forever home.

1

Identify

Partner with local shelters to find dogs who need urgent support or placement.

2

Support

Fund veterinary care, fostering costs, and transport as needed.

3

Rehome

Connect dogs with carefully vetted adopters ready to give them a forever home.

In Memory of Rafa

Know the Signs of Canine Diabetes

Rafa was diagnosed with diabetes and received daily insulin injections. What we learned — and what we want every dog owner to know — is that food is critical for a diabetic dog. A dog on insulin must eat. When appetite fades, the situation can turn dangerous very quickly.

Canine diabetes is more common than most people realize. 1 in every 300 dogs will develop it in their lifetime, and the prevalence has risen nearly 80% over the past two decades. Many cases go undetected until serious complications develop — because the early signs are easy to miss or dismiss.

In Rafa's memory, we want to make sure no family is caught off guard.

🚰 Excessive Thirst & Urination

Drinking and needing to go outside far more than usual — often the first sign owners notice.

⚖️ Weight Loss Despite Eating

Losing weight even while eating normally or more than usual — the body can't use glucose for energy.

😴 Lethargy & Low Energy

Less enthusiasm for walks, more sleeping, general fatigue — easy to write off as "getting older."

👁️ Cloudy Eyes / Cataracts

Up to 75% of diabetic dogs develop cataracts within a year of diagnosis. Don't ignore cloudiness.

If you notice any of these signs, call your vet. Early diagnosis makes a meaningful difference in quality of life and outcomes.
